'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith continues contest with City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he reminisces about the dramatic closing stages of his team's epic comeback win against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. That match wrapped up with Galbraith picking up a spectator's eyewear after the post-goal scrum.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a long-range shot from outside the box, and his teammate promptly slammed home the loose ball before charging toward the crowd to revel in the moment, with the crowd mobbing the players.

Remarkable Recovery

The result sealed an extraordinary comeback given the Welsh side had trailed 2-0 during the second half. During the celebrations, there was some minor mishaps. He shared, "There was a supporter sort of calling out and Josh Key and I were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're people, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

The result earned a fourth-round game at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, a club Galbraith pushed hard at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with his former club in February. The athletic midfielder had arguably the best view when Orient took the lead in stunning style, with Jamie Donley's volley from about 45 yards going in via the bar and the Stefan Ortega. It seems unfair that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've credited him for taking the effort on from that range," commented Galbraith, who started in midfield before switching to right defensive wing after they changed formation. That meant facing off against the England international, with whom he traded tops, and the attacker was among the Manchester squad who paid tribute to the way his former team approached the match.

Guardiola's System

"Athletically they are exceptional but even the simple things and routine actions, they can just do it over and over again," Galbraith says. "It seems as if they complete every delivery and they are adept at dictate and slow down a game. You can feel you're doing well and then suddenly they will just thread a ball through a line without you even noticing. You have to be focused at all times of the game. It demands a tough attitude and concentration just to remain competitive."

New Chapter

The club sought to acquire Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to bring him in in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He made a name as a fans' favourite across two seasons at Leyton Orient and has rapidly done the same in Wales. At his previous team he linked up again with Richie Wellens, who previously gave Galbraith his first extended run in senior football on loan at a League One side from Manchester United. Then came a spell at lower division Salford, before he permanently left Manchester United.

Development Path

"I was likely a slightly green going into senior level. I think many athletes would say under-23s football is entirely separate. Sometimes it seems play is circulated without real physicality. You see few physical contests. Once you start playing professional matches you have to learn quickly."

Country Call-ups

He has shown that development for his team and nation, excelling for the Green and White Army, who are fighting to qualify for the global tournament next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has featured in the past five games, including both legs games against a football powerhouse. The ex-coach, Galbraith's former international manager, offered the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he manipulates the ball and his ability to spot a decisive through ball.

Humble Beginnings

This marks an incredible journey for the youngster from the local area in his hometown, just outside Belfast, who was raised observing his father, the elder Galbraith, also a midfielder, play for a local club.

Manchester United Experience

Galbraith's sole appearance for the Red Devils came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a Europa League trip to the Kazakh capital, where they competed on an synthetic surface and the arena covering was sealed owing to conditions of bitter cold. "This represented a lengthy journey and it was cold out there," he says, smiling. "The preceding week, several youth players and I worked out jointly, so that assisted our preparation. Just to accompany the senior squad and make an appearance at the end was amazing."

Moving On

How difficult was it to leave United, the club he transferred from aged a teenager? "It was relatively straightforward, because I reached the point where I realized I wasn't going to make it at the senior squad. I'm hugely grateful for the experience gained but it reached a stage where I thought I had to take a different path, join a smaller club and play first-team games. Now I'm gradually working my way back up."

Welsh Adaptation

It is the middle of the day at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has an appointment at 5pm: a driving theory test, another progress toward getting on the road. Until recently to the local area, the mid-twenties player was a regular in Swansea's nicknamed player transport, a small coach driven by team personnel, Pete and Howard, which ferries players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"It's myself Gonçalo Franco, Ronald, an Ivorian player – a former passenger used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's enjoyable to spend time with the lads but I'm aiming to be the subsequent individual to drive independently and driving. The Portuguese player enjoys practical jokes; he's always up to all sorts."

Public Engagement

While playing for Leyton Orient, Galbraith would mix with followers on the Tube after starting his journey at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
